There's a well-worn path from tabloid drug scandal to rehab - and it seems boxing hero Ricky Hatton is walking it this morning.

 

The 31-year-old was allegedly caught on video snorting lines of cocaine during a 10-hour bender, with a still from the footage being featured on the front page of the News of the World yesterday. The former world champ - who has numerous showbiz pals - is reported to have made the decision to go into rehab following a "heart-to-heart" with girlfriend Jennifer Dooley.

 

The Daily Mirror quoted a source as saying: "He's now vowed to get himself clean. He'll go into a rehab clinic very soon and he has the support of Jen and the rest of of his family.

 

"Ricky is disgusted with himself. He feels he has let himself, his family, his friends and his fans down."

 

What is it about boxers and cocaine anyway? It only seems like the other day that Joe Calzaghe was embroiled in a similar story - and even nice guy Frank Bruno has admitted he had a major habit.

 

A statement from Ricky's publicist Max Clifford said: "In his own words, he's been in a bad place for some time, probably before even his last fight. "He feels devastated and we all hope this will be the wake-up call."
