Eminem Raps About His Drug Recovery
“Not Afraid”, the first track from Eminem’s forthcoming LP Recovery, takes a decidedly different approach than what was heard on last year’s Relapse. The Detroit rapper is in a more serious, self-reflecting state, narrating his recovery from drug addiction. “And I just can’t keep living this way/ So starting today, I’m breaking out of this cage/ Imma standing up, I face my demons/I’m manning up, Imma hold my ground/I’ve had enough, now I’m so fed up,” he raps. Not Afraid features Em’ reflecting on his rehabilitation from drug addiction (and “facing my demons”) in a typically forthright way.
Leaked before it’s release date (no surprises there), this hit promises to be a big one. It sees Eminem return to the style that made him the super star in the first point. It is generally accepted that his last album, Relapse, was disappointing but if this track is anything to go by, fans are definitely looking forward to the release of Release, due in June.
