Deaths due to drugs and alcohol down in Scotland

New figures from the Registrar General show that deaths caused by drugs and alcohol abuse are down for the second year running.

Although the Scottish government was pleased with the drop in the figures a spokesperson commented that serious drug misuse is still a complex and difficult problem to deal with.

The director of the Scottish Drugs Forum, David Liddel, said that it was a too early to say whether the downward trend was a long term one.
