BBC staff ordered to rehab

Drink and drug abuse has be revealed in a Freedom of Information request sent to the BBC by a Sunday newspaper.

During the last 5 years 11 employees have been rebuked for dug abuse and alcohol dependency and 2 were ordered to go into rehabilitation.

410 staff have received disciplinary action since April 2006 including theft, bullying and substance abuse.

The mother of Natasha Collins who died after a drink and drug overdose warned of a ‘huge cocaine culture’ at the BBC 18 months ago.  Carmen Collins suggested that staff should have random drug testing.

The BBC commented that all allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and disciplinary action taken where necessary.
