Alcohol is South Africa’s Drug of Choice

In order to shun substance abuse addiction, lots of people are struggling to use the facilities of South Africa's drug rehabilitation centers.

To get a place in the drug rehabilitation programs for three to six weeks, people face huge problems as they are not provided with any kind of private funding or medical aid. This is the reason the task seems impossible for them. The most recent report released by World Health Organization in 2004 brings about the fact that the favorite drug of South Africans is alcohol, as country's drinking population has topped on the list of alcohol consumption.

Report reveals that drinkers in South Africa consume an estimated amount of 16.7 liters. However, according to a 1998 survey report, nearly 10% of South African women and more than 27% of men confessed that they are dependent on alcohol.
